The pentacle is the Sumeragi crest. CLAMP uses it throughout TB & X.
So I assume the crest would be worn by the head - and probably other high ranking clan members, such as elders. Japanese crests - or kamon - have strict rules where they are applied on a garment and how many there are, etc. It's a topic that warrants some in depth research, if needed for a fic. (Luckily, I didn't need it, therefore please don't ask me for sources. I have nothing bookmarked.)
