I wrote this for the mock English Exam today. This version was off the top of my head, and I didn't have the manga to refer to when I penned this in class. So apologies for the inconsitencies. I had to change a few of actions to make them 'acceptable' to my English teacher. (sheesh)

Umm... comments? Reviews? Rants? Please?

Love,
Alexiel

Trapped
[slightly OC, spoilers for X13 and onwards]

Large, glazed eyes stared back at her. Iris and sclera milky, these were blind eyes, eyes that could not see in the physical plane. She knew too well, for those eyes are hers.

Here was not the waking world. Somewhere under the Diet Building, her physical body laid resting, but she had gone deeper than mere sleep. For Dreamseers, the moment their eyes are closed, the visions begin. But this was not the realm of dreaming she was accustomed to. This time, the shock of Daisuke's death had pushed her further, to a place where few could bring her back from.

She had gone within herself.

This place, this bleak, oppressing darkness, not a void, but a space filled with the dark shades of pain, anger, grief and a thousand other crashing emotions. Could this truly be her mind?

And there, in front of her, an image of herself. From the frail body smothered in a layer upon layer of fine silk robes, the silvery-white hair loped four times over in a high, ornate style, so long that trailed behind her, to the symbols and patterns on her forehead that marked her, everything was the same. It was like looking in a mirror.

She whispered, "Who are you?"

She watched as her image moved her lips in tandem, a silent echo of her own question.

She tried again. "Who are you?"

Again, the same mirrored actions.

Reaching out a tentative hand, she leaned forward. Her image did the same, stretching out her hand to meet hers. As the two hands were about the touch, something flickered across her image's face. Half-lidded eyes snapped wide open, eyebrows drawing upwards, the corners of a small mouth turning upwards in a cruel smirk.

She gasped and drew back, but was too slow. Small hands grabbed her wrists tightened around them in a painful grip. This was no reflection.

Her 'image' pulled her close with a sharp jerk. She looked into that pale, fine-boned face and she saw something that made her tremble uncontrollably. Because there are few things less terrible than facing your inner demons.

"I am you."

These were the last words she heard as felt herself falling backwards, smashing through the 'floor', shards of it splintering and flying everywhere, plunging into icy black water.

The broken 'floor' fused together above her, effectively sealing her in. A part of it formed a circular 'window', a clear glass she could see through. There was a rush of bubbles as she trashed and pounded her fist against it in vain.

"There's no use trying."

She stopped. Partly because she knew her other self was right, and partly because that chilling tone made her freeze.

Her other self was crouched over the glass, regarding her in the way one might look through a viewing floor or a tank. She smiled languidly, a smile that was frightening in it smug self-confidence.

"I saw your dreams, Princess Hinoto." Her other self spoke her name like a curse. "And I will not sit back and allow Kamui kill me."

'She knows of things I keep from my own sister!' Hinoto's eyes widened in fear. She had foreseen her own death at the hands of the fated child and there was nothing she could do about it.

"I want all the Dragons of Earth to die and I shall kill each of them one by one." She said this not as a threat but as a plain statement.

No! she screamed, her words coming out as a stream of bubbles. Her renewed attack on the barrier barely shook it.

"Daisuke's made you soft. Too weak to fight for yourself. So now I'll have to be the one to kill Kamui for you, before he does the same to me. I'll be taking over this body now, Princess Hinoto, and there is nothing you can do about it. Farewell." Her other self stood up and gave a mockingly wave, before dissolving, returning to claim Hinoto's physical self as her vessel.

Then the darkness closed in on her, blanketing the window and wrapping its shadowed threads around her heart. She could not breathe, could not move.

She was trapped. Trapped in her own mind by her other self.

Her desolate cry echoed in the darkness and faded to join the chorus of hushed moans of despair that formed the walls of her prison.
